Auction fees

Auction house Van Spengen has a very transparent fee structure. The standard rate for a successful sale is 18.15% (including VAT), these costs include photography, marketing and insurance.

In case there are any additional costs, e.g. transport, expertise, authentication or certification, this will be clearly discussed with you in advance. The auction costs will be deducted from the final proceeds.

In the unlikely event that items are not sold, no fees will be charged.

Calculation example

If you sell a lot for €1,000, the calculation is as follows:

Sales price (hammer price) € 1,000.
Sales commission 18.15%: € 181.50
Revenue minus expenses: €1,000 – €181.50 = €818.50

The amount of € 818.50 (selling price minus costs) will be transferred to you 6 weeks after the last auction day on the bank account number you provided. If lots remain unsold, we do not charge any fees.
